Yamgaz, a joint venture leading by Technip with JGC and Chiyoda, is the EPC contractor for the Yamal-LNG project to carry out the engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of an integrated facility for natural gas liquefaction fully modularized.
Located in the 9-months a year ice-bound estuary of the Ob River in Arctic Russia, Yamal LNG is one of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas projects designed to develop the South Tambey gas field. Operated by a joint-venture company owned by Novatek (60%), Total (20%) and CNPC (20%), the project will involve the drilling of more than 200 wells, the construction of 3 LNG trains, a gas terminal and the commissioning of 16 icebreaker tankers. The Yamal LNG plant is expected to have a production capacity of around 16.5 million tons per year and opens up new Arctic shipping routes to Europe and Asia. The development phases will include the construction of local infrastructures, an international airport and a harbor.
